Analisis Laporan Akhbar Terhadap Isu-Isu Wanita di Malaysia Pasca Pandemik COVID-19

Pandemik Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) mula menular di Malaysia sejak Januari 2020. Pertambahan jumlah rakyat yang dijangkiti virus tersebut telah memaksa kerajaan Malaysia untuk melaksanakan Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan (PKP) pada 18 Mac 2020. Rentetan daripada pelaksanaan PKP tersebut, kesemua aktiviti utama rakyat Malaysia seperti sosial, pendidikan, ekonomi dan lain-lain lagi telah disekat atau dihadkan. Hal ini telah memberikan implikasi negatif kepada keseluruhan rakyat Malaysia secara umum termasuk kaum wanita secara khusus. Justeru, kajian ini dilakukan untuk meneliti isu-isu berkaitan wanita pasca COVID-19 dan pelaksanaan Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan (PKP) di Malaysia. Kajian ini mengaplikasikan kaedah kualitatif berdasarkan analisis kandungan. Data-data dikumpul melalui analisis dokumen daripada laporan-laporan akhbar di Malaysia. Lima akhbar berbahasa Melayu telah dipilih sebagai sampel dalam kajian ini iaitu Berita Harian, Sinar Harian, Harian Metro, Utusan Malaysia dan BERNAMA. Data-data diambil daripada laman web rasmi akhbar-akhbar tersebut. Analisis dilakukan dengan memfokuskan kepada lima aspek sahaja iaitu jenayah, kesihatan, ekonomi, kerjaya dan kekeluargaan. Hasil kajian mendapati, pandemik COVID-19 dan pelaksanaan Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan (PKP) telah membawa implikasi negatif kepada kehidupan kaum wanita. Akhbar telah laporkan peningkatan isu jenayah terhadap wanita terutama keganasan rumah tangga selain cabaran dalam aspek kesihatan, ekonomi, kerjaya dan kekeluargaan. Kajian mencadangkan kepada kerajaan agar merangka plan khusus bagi memperkasan semula kaum wanita pasca COVID-19.

Pandemic Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has been spreading in Malaysia since January 2020. The increase in the number of people infected with the virus has forced the Malaysian government to implement the Movement Control Order (MCO) on 18 March 2020. Following the implementation of the PKP, all major activities of Malaysians such as social, educational, economic and others have been blocked or restricted. This has given negative implications for all Malaysians in general,
including women as the focus. Thus, this study was conducted to examine the issues related to women post COVID-19 and the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) in Malaysia. This study applied a qualitative method based on content analysis. Data were collected through document analysis from press reports in Malaysia. Five Malay language newspapers were selected as a sample in this study, specifically Berita Harian, Sinar Harian, Harian Metro, Utusan Malaysia and BERNAMA. The data is taken from the official websites of the newspapers. The analysis is done by focusing on only five aspects, that are crime, health, economy, career, and family. The results of the study found COVID-19 pandemic and the implementation of Movement Control Order (MCO) has brought negative implications to the lives of women. Newspapers has reported an increase in criminal issues against women, especially domestic violence, as well as challenges in health, economy, career, and family. The study recommended the government to formulate a particular plan to re-empower women after COVID-19.
