AUTHOR GUIDELINES

The following is a guide for authors submitting their paper to the RABBANICA Journal. Submitting manuscripts in the correct format and in compliance to the requirements will expedite the review process and prevent undue delay in publication. The publisher reserves the right to reject or return manuscripts which are not prepared according to the stipulated guidelines.

RABBANICA Journal covers the multidisciplinary study of Islam and Islam, in particular issues related to Islamic Studies or Social Science. All submitted manuscripts are subject to initial appraisal by the Editor and, if found suitable for further consideration, to peer review by independent, anonymous expert referees. All peer review is double-blind.

Language

Manuscripts can either be in English, Malay or Arabic.

Formatting

1. All manuscripts must be written in MS Word with the following specifications:

  • Font: Times New Roman, size 12 (only tables and figures can use size 10);
  • Margins: 2.54 cm or 1 inch all round;
  • Spacing: single spacing and justified.

2. Quotations of Qur'anic verses or Hadith texts:

  • Quotations of Qur'anic verses and/or Hadith texts in English and Malay manuscripts must appear in their original Arabic texts and translations.
  • In-text referencing of Qur'anic verses should give mention of the Qur'an, the chapter numbers (not the name of the surahs), and then followed by the verse numbers; e.g., (Qur'an, 2: 255). As for hadith texts, reference is to be made to the hadith source, followed by the volume number, and then the hadith number; e.g., (Sahih al-Bukhari, h. 123, aī).

 Requirement

  1. All articles must bear the title, primary author’s, second author’s and third author’s names (identifying who the corresponding author is), and full contact details (institutional address, e-mail and cell phone) of each author.
  2. Every article must include a title and an abstract. An abstract and English title must always accompany Malay or Arabic manuscripts. The abstract must be no more than 250 words, including 4 keywords.
  3. The length of each article must be at least 4000 words and not exceed 6000 words, or approximately 12 pages (depending on the subject).
  4. All article referencing (in-text and bibliographical) must follow the American Psychologist Association (APA) style. An article-format template has been prepared for you to download and use.
  5. All manuscripts must strictly follow the required RABBANICA Journal’s formatting standard and be proofread before submission. Manuscripts that do not comply with the format requirement or meet the basic publishable language standard will be outrightly rejected and not subjected to any review.
  6. RABBANICA Journal uses a double-blind review, meaning that both the reviewer's and author's identities are concealed from each other throughout the review process.

  2. Submitting your work to any other e-mail address will not be accepted.
